The primary research focus of this Department is situated in Agrifutura (agricultural futures project), which provides support to decision makers in agriculture, and in BFAP (the Bureau for Food and Agricultural Policy), a joint venture between the Department of Agricultural Economics, Extension and Rural Development of the University of Pretoria, the Department of Agricultural Economics of Stellenbosch University, and the Department of Agricultural Economics of the Provincial Department of Agriculture, Western Cape. The purpose of BFAP is to facilitate decision making in the South African agricultural sector, as well as the training of individuals in order to increase the amount of analytical and research skills available to the sector.
