Conservation Ecology and Entomology
The Department is affiliated with the Centre for Invasive Biology (CIB) at Stellenbosch University, and also collaborates with several other departments at the University. There is substantial collaboration by members of the Department with international universities and organisations, including the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Kingston University, Whittier College, the University of Potsdam, Instituto de Investigacion de Zonas Deserticas, Universidad Autonoma de SanLuis Potosi, the University of Regensberg, CNRS, the University of New England, University of Juba, the Harry Oppenheimer Research Centre of the University of Botswana, Oregon State University, the University of Washington, Georgia Southern University, the University of Namibia and the University of Florida. Other international collaborators include the Swiss Federal Research Station for Horticulture, the International Atomic Energy Agency, the European Union, Rothamsted International (UK) and the Department of National Parks and Wildlife in Botswana. Collaboration with national organisations, institutes and programmes is also extensive and includes interactions with SANBI, CSIR, Working for Water, IPC, SANParks, the Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism, the Department of Agriculture and Land Affairs, the Western Cape Department of Agriculture and the Agricultural Research Council (ARC). The Department also works closely with the Biodiversity and Wine Initiative, Citrus Research International, Cousine Island Trust, the Deciduous Fruit Producers’ Trust, MONDI, Seychelles Nature Protection Trust, Vergelegen Estate, Wilderness Safaris in South Africa and Botswana and the Universities of Cape Town, Witwatersrand and Pretoria and the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University.
