At the national level there is research collaboration with the IWBT, as well as the Departments of Horticulture (co-supervision of a PhD study), Mechanical Engineering, Geography and Environmental Studies and Conservation Ecology at Stellenbosch University.
There are also collaborations with the Agricultural Research Council - Infruitec/Nietvoorbij, Stellenbosch, Distell and various estates in the Western Cape area.
Regular technology transfer to the wine industry takes place in the form of lectures arranged by the Department itself, VINPRO, Winetech as well as South African Society for Enology and Viticulture.
International
Dr Wessel du Toit has research collaborations with the Slovenian Agricultural Institute, Slovenia, Department of Chemistry, University of Auckland, New Zealand and Department of Food Science, University of Milan, Italy.
Profs Alain Deloire and Maret du Toit, and Dr Benoit Divol, also coordinate our on-going involvement with three Erasmus Mundus programmes: the International Vintage Masters Degree at the University of Angers, as well as the Vinifera EuroMaster at Montpellier SupAgro and Oenodoc PhD consortium at the Faculty of Oenology, Bordeaux, which involve exchanges of students and lecturers between the different institutes.
