Securitas

Securitas, the personification of safety and confidence of the state or present reign, appears from the time of Nero on imperial coinage. For the purpose of propaganda she always appears with a relaxed pose, either seated, with an altar at her feet, holding a short sceptre and globe, or standing with legs crossed and leaning with her elbow on a column. Sometimes she stands holding her robe, a long sceptre, a wreath or a branch as depicted on the reverse of this AE3 of Helena.

The message of safety and security also appears as a legend on other imperial reverse types: SECVRITAS IMPERII (empire) TEMPORVM (the period) PERPETVA (perpetual) or occasionally in an abbreviated form SECVR ORB (the world).
