The Evolutionary Plant Biology & Conservation is a research group established to further the basic and applied research into all aspects of plant biology and conservation of plants and vegetation cover. We currently pursue research at basically all levels of complexity – from molecules to biomes, using plants as well as plant communities as models. Our current research profile encompasses plant systematics, functional plant morphology, ecophysiology, population biology, vegetation ecology and all aspects of biodiversity research. The unifying motifs in our research are evolutionary approach and interdisciplinarity. We place strong emphasize on spatial-related aspects (biogeography, vegetation mapping, predictive biodiversity mapping) and conservation of biota. The affiliation with our research group is open to any open-minded biologist interested in botany and biodiversity in general.

Our research group is a home for our postgraduate students and all interested undergraduate students as well. We entertain broad cooperation with similar research groups both on national and international scale.
