INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPANTS
GENERAL RULES
- The Festival is open to participants between the ages of 12 and 28.
- The minimum required level is UNISA grade 5.
- All entrants will receive chamber music coaching and with the exception of pianists will play in one of the two symphony orchestras. Placement in one of the two orchestras will be determined by auditions held on the first day of the Festival.
- Participants can enrol individually or as an established chamber music group, in which case they will also be required to perform in other ensembles. Each individual in an established group is required to fill out an entry form. Such persons should indicate on the form what they are entering as a group.
- All participants are bound by the code of conduct as upheld by the University of Stellenbosch. This code prohibits disorderly behaviour as a result of intoxication. Any and all transgressors will be asked to leave the Festival without compensation and with immediate effect.
ACCOMMODATION, MEALS & TRANSPORT
Accommodation in gender specific student hostels under adult supervision will be provided to those participants who have enrolled in the R2400.00 category. Please note that accommodation will only be provided for the period 8 to 17 July (inclusive). Student hostels are walking distance from the Konservatorium and the Neelsie Student Centre.
Participants eligible for meals will be served at Vlambojant at the Neelsie Student Centre. Please note that the festival cannot cater for participants with food allergies or food intolerance. In such cases we recommend that participants provide their own meals.
Participants can arrange to be collected at the airport or bus stop upon arrival. Please note that airport transfers will cost R50 per trip.
ENTRY FEES & DEADLINES
R2400.00 per participant (non-refunable) (includes meals, accommodation, coachings and access to all festival events and concerts)
OR
R1400.00 per participant (non-refunable) (includes coachings and access to all festival events and concerts).
R50.00 per trip (non-refunable) will be charged for transfers to and from Cape Town International Airport.
