No less than nine post-graduate students from the Centre for Invasion Biology received their degrees
at Stellenbosch Universityís Faculty of Science graduation ceremony on Thursday, 11 December.
Ms. Charlene Janion-Scheepers (Zoology), Ms. Keafon Jumbam (Zoology) and Ms. Ethel Phiri (Botany) were
all awarded their masters degrees cum laude. Ethel is also the winner of the Southern Africa Association for the
Advancement of Science (S2A3) medal for the best Masterís study at Stellenbosch University.
Ms. Melissa Boonzaaier graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Zoology, while Mr. Rafael Zenni
received his Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Botany.
The doctoral graduates, Dr. Thomas Lado (Ph.D., Botany), Dr. Elrike Marais (Ph. D., Zoology) and Dr. Dian
Spear (Ph.D., Zoology) and Dr. Brian van Wilgen (D.Sc. Botany), along with Dr. Llewellyn Foxcroft who graduated in Botany at
UCT earlier in the year, are the first doctoral students to graduate from the Centre.
