Application procedures
General

The Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology sends an Application form to prospective students after receiving an enquiry. Application forms are also available in Administration Building A at the Enquiries Desk.

Please note that submitting an application form does not guarantee automatic acceptance to the degree programme applied for. All applications are considered by the Programme Committee according to the admission requirements.

Postgraduate Diploma & MPhil
Doctoral

Requirements for application to the Postgraduate Diploma and MPhil programmes
Applications to the postgraduate programmes close on 30 October prior to the year studies will commence. International students should check the academic calendar as this date does not apply to them. Prospective students must submit the following:
· completed application form
· the application fee
· a full CV detailing academic as well as professional history and experience
· a certified copy of their academic transcript
· a certified copy of their highest degree or diploma
· a copy of best essay written in present/previous degree
· a typed one page motivation for acceptance to the relevant Programme.

The Application forms of successful candidates are submitted to the Courses Department of the University Administration. When the application has been approved by the Programme Committee, a letter of acceptance and other relevant information is sent to the candidate.

Requirements for application for doctoral admission
1. All prospective doctoral students must complete an application form to study at the US.

2. All prospective doctoral students MUST submit a pre-proposal. Please read through the guide for prospective doctoral as this will assist you in the admissions process.
