The specific goals of this project is to compile a comprehensive database on South African research containing information on (i) the profiles of the most "productive" South African scientists; (ii) the research programmes of these researchers; (iii) research outputs (specifically research articles in ISI and accredited South-African journals) and (iv) institutional research information (research centres and institutes, postgraduate figures, research expenditure and research funding). After 5 years the database contains more than 74 000 journal articles published by 24 000+ South African scientists. The database also contains basic information on more than 340 research centres at South African universities and technikons as well as more than 4000 research programmes. Systemic indicator information and THRIP project information has also been added to the database.
