The Flow Cytometry Core Facility is located in Room 158 in the Physiology, Anatomy and Biochemistry Building at the University of Stellenbosch Medical School Campus located next to Tygerberg Teaching Hospital. Geographical Location
The Stellenbosch/Tygerberg campus and health complex is centrally situated in the rapidly growing northern metropole. It is only a half an hour away from the historical and picturesque town of Stellenbosch to the south, where the University's main campus is situated, and 25 minutes away from http://www.cape-town.org/ with its majestic Table Mountain, white beaches, theatres, museums, restaurants and other places of entertainment. Some major attractions are the beaches of Blouberg, 20 minutes away on the West Coast, while False Bay, on the other side of the Peninsula, is also within easy reach on a late summer afternoon. It is ideal for water sports or a beach barbeque in the bracing sea air.
The campus is within easy reach of major shopping complexes such as the Sanlam Shopping Centre (5 minutes away) and theTyger Valley Shopping Centre (15 minutes away), comprising a wide range of modern shopping facilities, pubs, restaurants, theatres and businesses. Apart from the shopping complexes, the area surrounding the campus also offers numerous restaurants and eating places, health clubs, sports and recreational facilities.
Directions to the Tygerberg Campus from Cape Town and Stellenbosch via the N1
The distance from Cape Town to the Tygerberg Campus is approximately 15 km and from Stellenbosch about 30 km. Following the N1 freeway, turn off at Exit 20 and turn right (if coming from Cape Town, left if coming from Stellenbosch) into Mike Pienaar Boulevard. Turn right at the third traffic light into Francie van Zijl Drive. Turn left at the first traffic light. Sign in as a visitor at the toll booth. Follow the road into the Tygerberg Campus enclosure. Beware of the speed bumps. Following the sign posts to Fisangebou (F Area), drive past the Tennis Courts, the Student Residence (Hippocrates) and the Clinical Building (K Area), all on the right-hand side, until the road ends at the Physiology, Anatomy and Biochemistry Building. Parking for visitors is available directly in front of the entrance. The Security Staff at the entrance will direct you to the Flow Cytometry Unit in Room 158.
