Student Subsidy

Subsidy for South African students
A limited number of student subsidies are available to cover the conference fee for South African students in financial need. All students are required to pay the full registration fee and their accommodation. Subsidies will be awarded to students based on academic merit and financial need. The total number of subsidies will depend on available funds. No support is available for travel costs. Students are responsible for their own travel arrangements.
Those students wishing to be considered for financial support must:
  • Complete and submit the online registration form by 20 October 2008
  • Ask their supervisor to send a short letter of motivation via e-mail before
    20 October 2008 to physoffice@sun.ac.za clearly refering to the “Lasers
    and Accelerators Workshop” in the subject field.
  • Applicants will be informed by 1 November 2008 if they have been successful in their application for the reduced rate.

Participants can pay by bank transfer upon receipt of an official invoice from the University of Stellenbosch. The invoice will state full bank details.

Accommodation has been reserved in Waldenhof, Crozierhof and Banghoek Place, all within easy walking distance from the Wallenberg Research Centre at STIAS, i.e. the venue of the school. Accommodation is made available on a first-come-first-served basis. The cost for the above accommodation is quoted per person sharing and is as follows:

Transport

Participants:
A shuttle transport service between Cape Town International airport and the workshop venue will be available for participants at the beginning and end of the workshop. Please provide us with your travel choice on the second part of the registration page. The travel arrangement field will be available when you logon after the initial registration process. Participants who would like to make use of this transport are expected to arrive in Cape Town on 12 Jan 2009 and depart on 17 Jan 2009.
