REACTION TIME SIMULATION

Wait for the applet to completely load. Then click "Start". Brake when the light turns red.

Click "Start" to start. You are driving at 72 km/h - when the traffic light turns red, click "Brake" to stop.
The simulation shows the data and graph of the two components of stopping distance:
  1. Your reaction distance - the distance the car travels from when see the red light until you start braking, and
  2. The braking distance - the distance needed to stop the car after applying the brakes.
Click the "Reset" button to restart the simulation. Do it at least 10 times - record the data and calculate your average reaction distance, braking distance and stopping distance.

Explain how the movement of the car is different during the reaction time and the braking time.
Can you explain the form of the graph?
