Marinda Snyman
Marinda Snyman holds a doctorate in organ performance from the University of Pretoria (RSA), and also a masters degree in the same discipline from the University of Potchefstroom (RSA).
Apart from many South African competitions, including the ATKV Forte, finalist in the 4th Bloemfontein Organ Competition, finalist in the SABC piano and organ competition, and finalist in the JCI Jim Joel Competition, she also attended the Oundle International Organ Festival in England and received a prize as recital winner. As part of this award, she was invited to give recitals in venues such as St. Paul's Cathedral (London), St. Albans-, Chester- and Peterborough Cathedrals. She received masterclasses from international performers such as Simon Preston, David Higgs, Naji Hakim, James Parsons, Karl Hochreiter, and Ewald Kooiman, and was guest student at the Academy of Music in Oslo.
Marinda has accompanied various choirs, including the North West Children's Choir and the Potchefstroom University Choir. Between 1999 and 2006 she was resident organist and accompanist at the Drakensberg Boys' Choir where she also taught organ, piano and music theory. Together with a free-lance career in organ she is currently also teaching at Stellenbosch University (RSA).
