Teaching specialisation: International Relations, International Relations Theory, Politics and Foreign Policy of the United States, International Organisation, South Africa's Political History Research Interests: International Relations Theory; the developing world (Africa in particular) as an object of IR study and an agent of IR knowledge / theory; South Africa and India as regional powers in the global South. Other: In 2008, Karen received the rector's award for excellence in teaching, as well the Golden Key award for best lecturer in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Karen is the co-ordinator for the South African Politics and Economics programme which forms part of the University's Winter School for international students.
