Prof. Norbert Kersting holds the Willy Brandt Chair in Transformation and Regional Integration at the Department of Political Science, University of Stellenbosch. He is also a fellow at the Institute of Political Science at the University of Marburg, and was visiting Professor at the Universities of Koblenz-Landau and the University of Kassel.

He has co-edited books including:  Poverty and democracy (London: Zed), Local Government reform in Europe (Wiesbaden: VS), Electronic voting and democracy (London: Palgrave), Democratization and political culture in comparative perspective (Wiesbaden: VS).  

His research focuses on comparative political science and on modern instruments to promote political participation and discourse, local politics, parliamentarism and regional integration.
