CAREER COUNSELLING PROJECT

The Department of Psychology provides a free career counselling service to learners from previously disadvantaged schools in the Stellenbosch area.

This project, aimed at assisting learners to realize their career potential, focuses on Grade 11 learners, as they have to apply for jobs and university entrance during the first half of their final school year.

This project is headed by and services are provided by postgraduate students. Learners are assessed psychometrically and through individual interviews helped to make career choices. In addition, emphasis is placed on effective study methods, and information is provided on job and study opportunities and financial study aid.

About 650 learners from four schools are involved in this project annually, which is aimed at contributing towards an optimal utilization of human resources on the one hand, and a happier self-fulfilled individual on the other hand.
