DEVELOPMENT OF PRE-SCHOOL CHILDREN
The Department of Psychology is involved in a project on the development of pre-school children, headed by . This project, in collaboration with the Stellenbosch Early Education Trust, is implemented in the Babin Pre-primary, Nursery School and Day Care Centre and the Isibane Sepumelelo Créche in Stellenbosch.

The services rendered by Dr Loxton and her postgraduate students included school readiness assessments and therapeutic services to Grade R learners. These services, rendered for eight years now, also involve parents, caretakers and other professionals. It is aimed at developing the potential of young children from previously disadvantaged communities and to empower parents to take informed decisions about the future of their children. Several research projects, some in association with overseas collaborations, are part of this initiative.
