Prof Ashraf Kagee has recently completed the Master of Public Health (MPH) degree at the University of Cape Town. The MPH is a multidisciplinary degree that includes coursework and a mini-thesis. The courses include: Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Evidence-based Health Care, Research Methods in Public Health, Public Health and Society, Behavioural and Anthropological Approaches to Public Health, Health Promotion, Health and Human Rights, and Health Economics. Prof Kagee's mini-thesis was a qualitative study of the barriers to treatment adherence among a sample of patients living with chronic illnesses attending primary health care clinics in the Stellenbosch area.
