CT SCANNER - Information
The equipment is an x-ray based computer tomograph (CT) that provides images with high resolution and allows large sample sizes at the same time.
The measurement principle is similar to standard x-ray scanners. An object is exposed to collimated x-rays and the absorbed radiation is measured
with a sensor on the opposite side. In contrast to standard x-ray scanning in a CT this procedure is repeated from different angles of the object
which allows a full 3D reconstruction. The technique is used to detect differences in density and atomic number of the scanned sample.
CT scanning provides state of the art non-destructive analysis of properties for a multitude of materials.
