Johann Mouton has been involved in social research methods research and training for more than 30 years. He is the author of seven books in research methodology including Understanding social research (1996), The practice of social research (2002, with E Babbie) and How to succeed in your Masters and doctoral studies (2001). He is the Programme Director for the Masters and Doctoral programmes in Social Science Methods and for the Post-graduate diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation Methods at Stellenbosch University where he is a professor in the department of Sociology and Social Anthropology. He is on the editorial board of 5 international journals including the International Journal of Research Methodology. He has published more than 40 articles in peer reviewed journals, written more than 40 research and evaluation reports and given more than 100 papers at national and international conferences. He is in high demand from universities, business and government and acts as technical expert to many organizations in the field of M&E and research methodology in general.
