Heidi Prozesky lectures social research methods and the sociology of science at third-year level. In 2006, Heidi obtained a DPhil (Sociology) titled “Gender differences in the publication productivity of South African Scientists” – a research interest that dovetails with her involvement in projects on women in science conducted at the Centre for Research of Science and Technology. She is currently investigating gender differences in citation rates, while providing supervision to a number of postgraduate students within the field of science and technology studies. In her capacity as core research team member of the DST-NRF Centre for Excellence for Invasion Biology, she undertakes research and postgraduate supervision on social perceptions of a variety of invasive species, and on the extent to which scientific literature on invasive species is implemented by environmental managers.
