Jantjie Xaba lectures sociology of crime, HIV/AIDS, demography, social change, and social movements. He is also a specialist in sociology of labour in South Africa. His previous research was on worker restructuring in the metal industry, and his PhD research broadens and deepens this through a comparative study between “Volkskapitalisme” and “Black Economic Empowerment”. He has also published on informal economy, identity, and globalization, and has been part of an international research project on global cities. He is prepared to offer guidance to postgraduates within these fields.
