Memorial Service for Beyers Naudé: 15 September 2004 in the Endler Hall, Stellenbosch
"Tot siens Oom Bey" ...
This is the way that Dr Nico Koopman, director of the Beyers Naudé Centre for Public Theology, started the article that he wrote for Die Burger on the memory of Beyers Naudé. This is also the message that we as a Centre want to convey: "Good bye Beyers Naudé, we will not forget you." As Rodney Tshaka closed at the memorial service: "Ka nnete, O lwane ntwa e molemo, o mathile wa ba wa qeta sebaka. Robala ka Khotso moAfrika." (Surely, You have fought a good fight, you have completed the race. Sleep in peace African).
