Uberitas was originally an agricultural fertility goddess and she personifies abundance, richness and fruitfulness. She was introduced by Decius in AD 249. She is usually depicted holding a purse (marsupium - pouch), various interpretations also refer to this object as a bundle of grapes or an udder. On this very eroded reverse of an antoninianus of Postumus, Uberitas is depicted standing, holding a purse and cornucopiae, the legend reads VBERITAS AVG. |
