The coin on the left above, a denarius of Julius Caesar (47 - 46 BC), bears the head of Venus and is a prime example of portraiture in high relief.

Note the very high relief of this later denarius as opposed to the low relief on the coin of Saranus (c. 155 - 120 BC).
