AE antoninianus, Marcus Aurelius Numerianus, AD 283 - 284

   

M. Aurelius Numerianus, younger son of Carus, was made Caesar in AD 282 after their joint victory over the Sarmatians. Numerian was proclaimed Augustus the next year. In AD 284, on return from a victory against the Persians, he was murdered by the praetorian prefect.
