The Workshop that precedes the Conference has always been an integral part of the past UNESCO/IUPAC conferences. The workshop offers an excellent opportunity for students (and full delegates) to gain fundamental knowledge on topics that are the focus area of the conference that follows. These lectures are typically presented by leading scientists in their respective fields. In many cases plenary and invited speakers share their knowledge. The lectures presented during the workshop provide a background to the main topics of the conference that follows.

In 2017, the main topics of the conference are:
  • Advances in polymer synthesis and characterisation
    • Polymerisation
    • Polymer modification
    • Chain-end functionalization
    • Characterisation of complex polymer systems
  • Interactions between polymers and cells
    • Extracellular matrix
    • Drug delivery
    • Bio recognition
    • Styrene-maleic acid lipid particles (SMALP)
  • Responsive materials
    • Foldamers
    • Out-of-equilibrium systems
    • Biomimetic materials
Each participant receives a paper of detailed handouts to be used during the lecture portions of the workshop.
