Die Departement Geskiedenis van die Universiteit Stellenbosch en die Geskiedenis Departement van die Vrije Universiteit van Amsterdam het in September 2006 'n uitruilooreenkoms onderteken. Dit maak voorsiening vir die uitruil van studente op nagraadse vlak om modulekursusse aan die twee departemente te loop. Amsterdamse geskiedenisstudente sal in die tweede semester kursusse op Stellenbosch kan loop en Stellenbosse geskiedenisstudente sal in die eerste semester vir kursusse in Amsterdam kan inskryf. Die ooreenkoms maak ook vir die toekomstige uitruiling van dosente voorsiening"
