Marna Cilliers-Hartslief
Marna Cilliers-Hartslief is the founding
member of the Research Group for Human Factors in Virtual
Reality. She holds an M.Sc (Information Technology)
from the University of Loughborough in the United Kingdom and a Ph.D in
Industrial Psychology from the University of Stellenbosch.
Marna has been specializing in the field of Human Factors
Engineering since 1982, focusing in particular on Human-Computer
Interface Design. She was extensively involved in the Man-Machine
Interface design of the Rooivalk Attack Helicopter, a South
African product, designed, developed and produced by Denel
Aviation. Marna is currently appointed as Senior Lecturer in
Ergonomics and Human Resource Development at the Department of
Industrial Psychology, University of Stellenbosch.
Madia de Jager
Madia is currently studying towards an M.Comm
degree in Industrial Psychology at the University of
Stellenbosch. She was born in Pretoria and moved to the
University of Stellenbosch after completion of her undergraduate
work. Her interests include business, tourism and travel,
advertising, and art. Her research interest area investigates the
importance of the inclusion of usability engineering in Virtual
Reality military technology. In addition she plans to research
applicable strategies and methods to guide systematic usability
evaluation.
Karin Scholtz
Karin was born on 25 December 1977 in
Pretoria and she matriculated in 1996 at Bellville High School.
She hold a B.A. (Honours) degree from the University of
Stellenbosch and is currently studying towards her M.A. degree. Her
research interest involves the creation of an integrative virtual
environment with particular application to tertiary learning
and research. More specifically, she plans to evaluate the
concept of in-time interactive learning environments.
Anje Conradie
Anje Conradie holds a B.A. (Honours) degree
in Industrial Psychology (1999). Her research interests pertain
to the use of virtual reality as an enhancement to training.
Particularly, her research towards an M.A. degree investigates
the benefits that Virtual Reality offers from a retention
perspective. Her case study involves the implementation of
Virtual Reality in developing map reading skills in military
personnel.
Elisca Philander
Elisca Philander holds a BA (Hons) degree
in Industrial Psychology obtained at the University of
Stellenbosch. She finished both her undergraduate and Honours
degrees at the University of Stellenbosch and is now busy with her Master's degree,
focusing on Training and Development. Her emphasis is on the
potential use of Virtual Reality training systems for improved
transfer of training from virtual to actual environments.
Julia Muetudhana
Julia Muetudhana is a Namibian, and
completed her B.A degree at the University of Namibia. She is
currently busy with her M.A. at the University of Stellenbosch.
Her research is aimed at investigating virtual organisations.
More specifically, she has initiated an exploratory study of managerial
leadership in virtual and mechanistic organisations. She plans to
become an Organisational Development consultant. Her interests
are reading, jogging and socialising.
Zamuxolo Mgulwa
Zamuxolo Mgulwa obtained his B.Sc. from the
University of Fort Hare, and is currently registered for an
M.Sc. in Geographic Information Systems at the University of
Stellenbosch. His research focuses on the use of
three-dimensional (3D) geographic imaging as well as Satellite
Remote Sensing and Environmental Management.
Siza Majola
Siza Majola hails from Pinetown in KwaZulu-Natal and she was born
on the 8th of April 1980. She holds a
B.Sc degree from the University of Fort-Hare where she majored in
GIS and Geology. She is currently doing her first year of a 2
year M.Sc programme in Geographic Information Systems at the
University of Stellenbosch. Her research involves the use of GIS
in Virtual Reality. Her hobbies include listening to music and
reading books.
