Eastern Cape Private Game Lodge (Kwandwe)

Day 1
You will be transferred to Cape Town International Airport to connect with a flight to Port Elizabeth (this flight not included in cost). On arrival at Port Elizabeth Airport you will be met and transferred by road to Kwandwe and Ecca Lodge.

Kwandwe Private Game Reserve is located in the beautiful and historically rich Eastern Cape along 30 kilometres of privately-owned river frontage, surrounded by 16 000 hectares of exclusive, malaria-free wilderness.

Described as the fun, young sister of Kwandwe's Lodges, Ecca Lodge is constructed using stone 'gabion' walls and corrugated iron in the traditional Eastern Cape farmhouse style. Ecca Lodge is operated with the high standards expected of this prestigious Relais & Chateaux property.

The new and exciting Ecca Lodge feature six exclusive suites with spacious living areas. Designed as 'parent friendly', the suites comfortably convert into triple accommodation for children 12 years and younger. Main guest areas boast an interactive kitchen where delicious funky farmhouse cuisine is prepared, a sparkling swimming pool, and a state-of-the-art, totally unique bush playroom.

The twice-daily game drives in open 4x4 Land Rovers provide excellent opportunities to view the Big Five and many other animals in their natural environment. A ranger and tracker, will lead you to impressive sightings and impart interesting information about nature and wildlife to you.

Walking in Kwandwe Private Game Reserve is a unique way of experiencing the wild. Hiking along the river or in the valley is permitted only with a guide and is especially rewarding for those interested in birds, vegetation and folklore.

There is a wide range of additional excursions available at Kwandwe - like the four-hour safari tour to the Valley of the Ancient Voices to see thousand-year-old rock paintings, stone tools and artefacts. There is also a "Walking Adventure" package, which includes a full day hike through big game country all along the Great Fish River.

You may track rhino on foot under the guidance of an experienced ranger.

Overnight for two/three nights at Kwandwe’s Ecca Lodge on a full board basis, including all game activities.
