How to get to the Africa Centre:

  • N2 freeway from Cape Town.  (This is the most convenient route if you are travelling from the airport or from Cape Town Southern Suburbs and UCT.)  Travelling on the N2 towards Somerset West take the R310 off-ramp, sign-posted Baden Powell Drive – Stellenbosch.  It is the turn-off after the one sign posted Spine road extension.  It is about 50km from Cape Town to Stellenbosch and 35km from Cape Town International Airport to Stellenbosch.
  • N2 freeway from Port Elizabeth.  After coming down Sir Lowry’s Pass and driving through the outskirts of Somerset West, where there are a number of traffic intersections, take the R44 off-ramp sign-posted Stellenbosch.  This is just after the large white buildings of the Somerset West Mall on the left-hand side of the freeway.
  • N1 freeway from Cape Town.  (This is most convenient route if you are travelling from lower Cape Town, in particular the Waterfront and Northern Suburbs.)  Travel on the N1 through Cape Town’s northern suburbs towards Paarl and take the R304 Stellenbosch off-ramp.  It is about 55km from central Cape Town to Stellenbosch.

  • N1 freeway from Worcester.  After passing the Paarl and Franschoek turn-offs, take the R44 sign-posted “Stellenbosch”.
