Renice Williams

Being a true Stellenbosch local, Renice grew up in Jamestown, just outside Stellenbosch in the beautiful winelands. In 1995 and 1996 respectively, she completed a BA degree and a HDE at the University of the Western Cape. After taking a break from her studies for almost 10 years, Renice enrolled for the Postgraduate Diploma in Translation and Editing at Stellenbosch University, which she completed in December 2006. In 2007 she did a Project management course at the Stellenbosch University Business School.

Renice started her working career as a personal assistant for a financial advisor and production manager at Old Mutual. She also taught at Stellenzicht Secondary in her hometown, Jamestown. With the initial plan to help out at the Africa Centre for two weeks at the end of 2000, Renice has been a dedicated employee of the centre ever since.

Apart from being responsible for the postgraduate programmes as Programme manager, Renice is also involved with office and financial management at the centre. She has a true passion for people and has always seen herself as a child educator. That is exactly why she enjoys her work at the centre – the children she educates however being a little more grown-up than expected. Renice is a firm believer of honest communication as a key element in making a difference to the HIV and AIDS situation in South Africa. People must be willing to openly talk about HIV with their friends and families.
