An impressive array of performing artists joined the Africa Centre’s director of educational theatre and creative arts, Jimmie Earl Perry, in commemorating World AIDS Day at the Cape Town International Convention Centre on 1 December. The gala concert celebrated the good work and efforts made in the fight against HIV/AIDS globally and placed special emphasis on the work done by the Africa Centre and the Desmond Tutu TB Centre, both at Stellenbosch University, in collaboration with the Western Cape Provincial Government.
The WAD celebration was further enhanced by recognising the contributions of individuals and institutions that roll up their sleeves and make a difference. The Africa Centre presented three awards to former students Thozamile Qubudane, Blanche Claasen-Hoskins and Carl Manser.
