SHORT COURSE ON POLYMER CHARACTERIZATION
The integral part of the Conference from the very beginning is a one day Short Course on Polymer Characterization that takes place before the Forum. The idea of the Course is to provide basic information for students and newcomers in the field as well as an up-to-date overview of popular characterization techniques presented by well-known specialists in a condensed presentation covered by the reference material.
A peculiarity of the Course is that the lectures are available to the participants during the whole conference. The Course has also turned out to be a good preparation for many of the participants to better understand the subsequent research presentations.
Numerous lecturers during the past POLYCHAR conferences were leading experts and covered various topics of polymer characterization, such as atomic force microscopy, dynamic mechanical thermal analysis, chromatography, polymer rheology, tribology, electron microscopy, scattering techniques, spectroscopy, mechanical and micromechanical testing methods, chemistry of nanocomposites, routes to green composite materials.
A Short Course on Polymer Characterization will be held on Monday, 7 April 2014, the first day of the POLYCHAR 22 World Forum on Advanced Materials.

IUPAC SPONSORSHIP - CALL FOR APPLICATION
On Behalf of POLYCHAR 22 IUPAC has granted a limited budget for supporting 'exclusively for STUDENTS from scientifically emerging regions in ASIA, AFRICA and SOUTH AMERICA' for travel/accommodation.
Active participants of POLYCHAR 22 who might be candidates by meetings these conditions are asked to apply for this programme within the given general deadlines and
- to register for POLYCHAR 22
- to submit a copy of their student ID or a supporting letter from their supervisor
- to submit an abstract indicating their authorship as PRESENTING author (oral or poster)
The Conference Organizers will have to make a selection from the number of applicants because of the limited budget and forward the POLYCHAR Application Form for IUPAC Sponsorship (below) by the end of 2013.
Please send your application form in .doc format to aef2@sun.ac.za
The name of your application form file should be in the form "IUPAC_firstauthorname.doc" (i.e. IUPAC_BROWN.doc).Download POLYCHAR Application Form for IUPAC Sponsorship.doc
