• Hamburg Universiteit (Duitsland): Verblyf word vir studente betaal.
• Tübingen Universiteit (Duitsland): 'n Beurs van 500 -750 Euro per semester word voorsien.
• Leipzig Universiteit (Duitsland): Besonderhede oor beurs is by die Internasionale Kantoor beskikbaar.
• Universiteit van Graz (Oostenryk): Verblyf word aan studente voorsien sowel as 'n beurs van 300 Euro per maand.
• Sciences-Po in Parys (Frankryk): Sciences-Po in Parys het 'n seksie in Nancy waar Duits en Frans (letterkunde, kultuur, geskiedenis, ens.) onderrig word. Verblyf vir alle studente van Stellenbosch word betaal.
• International Student Exchange Program (ISEP): Studente kan deur die ISEP aansoek doen om by een van die volgende universiteite in Duitsland te studeer:

Fransstudente:

Stipendiums en oorsese beurse:

• Die Bureau de Coopération pour le français (BCF) ken gereeld beurse toe aan intermediêre en/of gevorderde Fransstudente om aan 'n intensiewe taalkursus in Réunion deel te neem. Hierdie wonderlike geleentheid bied 'n uitstekende grondslag vir studente wat hulle studies in Frans wil voortsit.
  

  Regs: 'n Student, Martine Steyn, in Réunion. Sy verseker ons dat sy nie net die son en see nie, maar ook die intensiewe taalonderrig in Frans geniet het!



• 'n Nuwe program is onlangs deur die BCF bekendgestel, wat geskikte gekwalifiseerde studente in staat stel om vir 'n tydperk van agt maande Engels in Frankryk te onderrig. Dit is nie 'n studie-beurs nie, maar bied aan studente die geleentheid om opvoedkundige vaardighede te verwerf en hulle Frans te verbeter deur teen vergoeding by 'n Franse skool te onderrig. Een van ons studente, Sarah Sherry, is in 2004 gekies om deel te neem aan hierdie program.

• Verder ken die Franse Ambassade in Pretoria ook langtermyn studie-beurse toe aan Honneursstudente wat graag hulle studies aan 'n universiteit in Frankryk wil voortsit. Die Departement help studente wat tot nagraadse studies in staat is om 'n universiteit te kies wat aan hulle belange voldoen, hetsy in film- of teaterstudie, letterkunde of die onderrig van Frans as 'n vreemde taal. Die afgelope paar jaar kon die volgende studente gebruik maak van hierdie wonderlike geleentheid:

Plaaslike Beurse

• Plaaslike beurse word jaarliks toegestaan aan verdienstelike studente wat finansiële steun benodig om hulle studies in Frans voort te sit. Die toekenning van hierdie beurse word moontlik gemaak deur 'n toelaag van die BCF.

Duitsstudente:

Stipendiums en oorsese beurse:

• Die Universiteit se Internasionale Kantoor en Duitsland ken twee stipendiums toe aan Honneursstudente in Duits om die Julie-vakansie by die Universiteit van Leipzig deur te bring en deel te neem aan 'n kulturele immersie-program. Navrae: Internasionale Kantoor.
• Die Universiteit se Internasionale Kantoor en Duitsland ken twee stipendiums toe aan MA of PhD-studente in Duits om hulle navorsing vir een semester onderskeidelik aan die Universiteit van Tübingen of die Universiteit van Leipzig te doen. Twee Honneurs-studente in Duits het ook die geleentheid om gedurende die Julie-vakansie deel te neem aan 'n kulturele immersie-program aan die Universiteit van Leipzig. Mandarynsstudente:

Annual Student Trips to China

Since 2005 students of Mandarin have had the unique opportunity to travel to China to attend a three-week-long intensive Chinese language training course at a Chinese university in Beijing. The trips which are open to all second and third year students are organized by the lecturers of the Mandarin section. An added incentive to be a top achiever in Mandarin is the promise of a full scholarship for this trip which includes airfare as well. These scholarships which are sponsored by Naspers are awarded to the five top students only.

These trips which usually start at the end of June and stretch across most of July are immensely beneficial for students. From a language perspective, it is a great advantage for students not only to hear the Mandarin language within its cultural, everyday context, but also to engage with the Chinese people in conversation.

Furthermore, the students also have the opportunity to see some of China’s historical sites, such as The Great Wall of China, The Summer Palace and the Forbidden City. Some newer sites, such as the Olympic Park, can also be visited, so that the students can engage with the unique mixture of the Old and New that is Beijing.

While in China, students either live with a family or stay in a student hostel. Students who live with Chinese families have the opportunity to experience the living conditions of Chinese families, while students living in a hostel are able to communicate with students from all over the world who are also studying Mandarin.

For second year students, these trips serve as encouragement to continue with their studies in Mandarin. For third year students, these trips not only encourage them to continue improving their Mandarin, but perhaps to seek employment in China.

These trips to China have always been successful, as students return with a deeper knowledge and understanding of both the Chinese culture and language.
