Animation

The Animated Graph applet shows the graph of a function that depends on a parameter. The applet can animate the graph by displaying it for a sequence of parameter values. In the applet below you can control the animation using a strip of controls on the bottom of the applet. There are input boxes where you can specify the range of values for the parameter (here it is "t"), the number of intervals into which this range is divided (it determines the speed of the animation), and you can change the formula.

Here are more examples - click the buttons to launch the applet. Note that sometimes there are advantages to Stop or Pause the animation and to rather use the manual Next and Previous to reflect on certain properties of the graphs (e.g. to algebraically explain the difference between the graphs of x^3+kx for k>0 and for k<0). Also try out the different options between Play Once, Loop, and Back and Forth ... Remember, you can enter your own formulae ... Enjoy!
