ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMMES For admission to any of the undergraduate programmes offered by the Department of Consumer Science, at the University of Stellenbosch, a student must have Full Matriculation Exemption with an aggregate of at least 50% (average D-symbol). For admission to the BSc in Consumer Studies (Foods) programme, students should have obtained a passmark in the following subjects (at the Matriculation or equivalent examination): (1) Mathematics and Physics and Chemistry, with one of these subjects on the Higher Grade. If Mathematics was followed on the Standard Grade, an E-symbol is required; OR (2) Mathematics (Higher Grade or with at least a C-symbol on the Standard Grade) and a Science subject (Higher Grade or with at least a C-symbol on the Standard Grade). For admission to the Bachelor of Consumer Studies (Foods) programme, students should have obtained a passmark in Mathematics (Standard Grade) and a Science subject (Higher Grade or with at least a C-symbol on the Standard Grade). Students
who wish to follow the Bachelor of Consumer
Studies, Bachelor of Consumer Studies
(Housing), and Bachelor of Consumer
Studies (Clothing and Textiles) programmes, are required to have
obtained the following in the Matriculation or equivalent examination:
a passmark in Mathematics (Standard Grade) or a Science
subject (Higher Grade or with at least a C-symbol on the Standard
Grade).
