Port Elizabeth is the fourth-biggest city in South Africa and has a modern airport that is situated within 15 min drive from the central business district and the beach front. And right at the heart of it all is The Boardwalk Casino and Entertainment World.

The heart of Port Elizabeth, Summerstrand, is the location of the new Boardwalk Convention Centre; a bright, modern and technically advanced meeting place. Here, you will be able to defy convention within the environs of an historic city and one of South Africa's top travel destinations.

The new Boardwalk Convention Centre caters for conferences, exhibitions and events. The Boardwalk Convention Centre provides just the right space for meetings of many sizes - small enough to be intimate, but able to handle large conference groups.The new multi-level underground parking garage is able to accommodate 863 vehicles over and above the current parking bays. There is easy access from the ground level of the hotel for delegates and a large loading area for exhibitors and suppliers will streamline set-up.

All conference rooms are equipped with wall-to-wall carpeting, air conditioning, independently controlled light switches and dimmers, telephone and internet accessibility and 3-phase power. All divider walls are sound-proofed and the necessary PA, sound and AV equipment is available to run a conference.

BY ROAD:
The city offers excellent road links as the N2 highway runs between Cape Town (8 hours away via the Garden Route) and Durban along the southern coast.

FROM GAUTENG:
Via the M4 Settlers Way, follow the signs to Summerstrand. Continue straight along the beachfront, past The Boardwalk pedestrian entrance and turn right into 2nd Avenue at the Casino sign. Proceed up 2nd Avenue to the second traffic circle; The Boardwalk main entrance will be on the right hand side.

FROM CAPE TOWN:
Via the N2 follow the signs to the M4 Settlers Way. Follow the signs to Summerstrand. Continue straight along the beachfront, past The Boardwalk pedestrian entrance and turn right into 2nd Avenue at the Casino sign. Proceed up 2nd Avenue to the 2nd traffic circle; The Boardwalk main entrance will be on the right hand side.

BY AIR:
Port Elizabeth International Airport: The Port Elizabeth Airport is 5 km from The Boardwalk. The hotel runs a transfer service from the airport.

DIRECTIONS FROM THE AIRPORT:
Exit and turn right at the traffic circle into Allister Miller Drive, continue across the second and third traffic circles to the traffic lights. Turn right into La Roche Drive and continue straight to the beachfront. Turn right into Beach Road and continue straight along the beachfront, past The Boardwalk pedestrian entrance and turn right into 2nd Avenue at the Casino sign. Proceed up 2nd Avenue to the 2nd traffic circle; The Boardwalk main entrance will be on the right hand side.

CURRENCY:
The South African Rand is the local currency.

VALUE ADDED TAX:
VAT, currently at a rate of 14%, is levied on most items and services, including hotel accommodation, goods and transport. Foreign visitors can reclaim VAT. Request a tax invoice for each purchase of R250 or more and present the tax invoice to the customs department on departure from South Africa.

LANGUAGE:
English is the language of administration and widely spoken. In the Eastern Cape, Xhosa is the predominant tribal language.

WEATHER:
Port Elizabeth enjoys a sub-tropical climate, with more sunshine hours than any other South Africa's coastal cities.
Temperatures are moderate all year round, rainfall is relatively light and the sea temperature is always pleasant.

All conference rooms are equipped with wall-to-wall carpeting, air conditioning, indepently controlled light switches and dimmers, telephone and internet accessibility and 3-phase power. All divider walls are sound-proofed and the necessary PA, sound and AV equipment is available to run a conference. Should specialized equipment be required, this can be hired on your behalf.

The Boardwalk Convention Centre will not have facilities on site to cater for Kosher and Halaal meals; however, these meals could be arranged through a recognised caterer. Prior arrangement of these meals will be essential.

All areas within the International Convention Centre may be usilized for exhibitions. The areas assigned are dependent on the configuration of the exhibition. The usual size of a stand is 3m x 2m and the height of the stand will be dependent on the location within the centre.

No nails, double sided tape, prestik or any other type of fastener or adhesive will be allowed to be stuck on the walls of The Boardwalk Convention Centre. Posters and banners will be allowed to be erected but at the discretion of the Banquet Manager.

The Conference Secretariat cannot arrange transfers to and from the airport to delegates. Arrangements and payment for transfers are the delegate's own responsibility.
